Docked In Port

The first stop on the journey up the coast, Port Macquarie.

After spending a full night creating a playlist for our travels we have finally been able to put it to the test. I should of known it was never going to disappoint, however Calums singing voice done exactly that! Mind you how many famous Scottish singers can you name? I bet you have to sing "I would walk 500 hundred miles" before you are able to even think of one and to be perfectly honest I cant think of anyone else. The drive from Sydney to Port  took us about 4 hours and to my surprise Nicole (the Nissan Micra) coped perfectly fine, its a bit to early to call though seen as she has another 2,200 Km to go. Fingers crossed haha!

As you drive into port you come over a hill to a view to match the best in the world, you can see the sea until it reaches the horizon and some how we timed it perfectly the sun was just setting into the sea, the sky was an amazing red and the waves as calm as something very calm. It was like something from a film and something I didnt want a picture of, it was at this moment that a phrase that someone once told me popped into my head "Live for the moment not the memory". It was then I realised that if I wanted to be a real traveller I was going to have to live by this phrase to a limit. I was also going to have to attempt to grow a beard, not shower and grow my hair to its longest possible point.

For now however I still looked as normal as I do. It seems I have spent my time in Port warming up for the fishing trip in Broome and I am already praying that it goes better! Two days fishing and only 3 baby Bream to show for it. Thats poor, even for my standards! On a better note though Calum was able to catch his first ever fish and was incredibly happy about it even if it was only the size of my hand. Fishing always brings back the memory of when I first went fishing with my dad, I think it was also the first time I learnt to be patient, sadly that lesson clearly didn't sink in, as I was ready to give up at 1 O'clock in the afternoon, Which would of been fine if we got there on time but we didn't arrive until 11 O'clock.

Like my first ever fish I am able to come home to the smell of something amazing being cooked! The beauty of family and having a woman around the house I suppose. The only proplem being is that i know after this stop off the meal of the week will probably be cheap Tuesdays at pizza hut, not a scratch on what my dads pizzas taste like. The bad side of having parents that have the potenial to open there own michelin star restuarent. However now its time to look towards the next stop off, the next adventure, the next place that wont be the same after I am finished with it, haha! See you in Coffs Harbour
